 | | I grew up in rural Nova Scotia, Maplewood, to be exact. |
 | | As a small girl, I sang in church, school, variety shows, and radio. |
 | | Graduated from New Germany Rural High School & started working for the Royal Bank of Canada, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. |
 | | I got married in 1964.
|
 | | In 1967, I transferred from the Royal Bank of Canada, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, to the Royal Bank, Woodstock Ontario. |
 | | During this time, I made many new musical friends and joined a local band.
|
 | | While still working at the bank in Woodstock, I was “discovered” by an A & R representative for a record company and was signed to their label, Marathon Records, and recorded my first LP - Testing 1-2-3.
|
 | | The first release, also titled, Testing 1-2-3, from that LP, went to # 1 across Canada on the Canadian Country Music Charts. |
 | | I received a Gold Record for Record Sales. |
 | | In 1972 I left my day job with the Royal Bank of Canada to pursue music full time.
|
 | | I continued on that path of full time performing, playing clubs, T.V., concerts, festivals and receiving radio airplay across Canada. |
 | | I finally “left the road”, got a new day job with Ralston Purina of Canada, Woodstock, Ontario, and still played music as a sideline. |
 | | I moved to a new record label, Boot Records. |
 | | My husband and I soon found our family growing with the addition of three girls.
|
 | | In 1987 we moved back to Nova Scotia, lock, stock and barrel. |
 | | After a year, I went to work, again in a day job, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, N.S. |
 | | During weekends, I joined a new band, made new musical friends, connected with musicians from my past and wrote songs. |
 | | In 1994, we formed our own record label, Gemini Records, and recorded a new CD, The Other Side of Me, produced by Georges Hebert, long time guitarist for Anne Murray.
|
 | | Received airplay, mostly overseas. |
 | | While working my day job, I used vacation to perform at festivals & concerts, traveling to Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden in 1996, 1997. |
 | | In 1998, I wrote the winning centennial song to celebrate Bridgewater, Nova Scotia’s 100th Birthday. |
 | | In 1999, I broke my leg one hour after arriving in Holland to perform at an international festival and to promote my records. I could not perform any overseas concerts that year and many dreams fell by the wayside. |
 | | Because I was hospitalized in Holland for several weeks, and unable to return home as expected, I missed the opportunity to be the opening act for well known Canadian singer, Michelle Wright, back in my hometown of Bridgewater. |
 | | In 2001 I became a published author with a story in Music Horror Stories, A Goodnight Kiss Production, California. |
 | | In 2004 I was given the opportunity to put together the concept for a new country music festival to take place at Fox Mountain Camping Park, Aylesford, Nova Scotia. This now is a yearly event at which I act as host, perform with my band, Total Country, as well as book all the acts and manage all musical concerns. |
 | | In 2004, I was inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. |
 | | I retired from my “day job” in 2006. |

During my lifetime of being involved in music, I have gained knowledge on everything from performing live, recording, record contracts, songwriting, and everything in between. While continuing to do all of the above, I am also now a music consultant, truly enjoying every opportunity as it comes my way. Life is good!
